It's just a different kind of love, and coming to terms with the fact that aromantic views of love are pretty much the opposite of media's current views is kind of dehumanizing and feels like there's something wrong with you. In fact, I would argue that aromantics want emotional closeness even more, because we don't have the handy excuse of romantic relationships. Just because you're aromantic doesn't mean you don't want emotional closeness.
